About NAHARA

The experience at Nahara is more of a philosophy than a boutique. It has evolved into an embodiment of all the things I cherish. Intentional design. Creative expression. Quiet strength. Simple elegance. Playful femininity. Nature. Presence. I believe that consciously made items give us a radiant permission to hold ourselves to a higher standard. To attempt hard things. To live life artfully. Beauty as a form of nourishment.

Set along the Mendocino Coast, NAHARA is a place to slow down. Inside the boutique, you'll find a curated collection of clothing, jewelry, fragrance, books and objects chosen for their quality, integrity, and enduring design. Through the yellow doors on Main Street, past the boutique and through frosted glass, a private healing sanctuary offers bespoke massage and skin rituals rooted in skill, experience, and a deep understanding of the body. Just behind the boutique, a garden courtyard hosts a quiet place for tea after a massage, or a moment to sit after shopping, and occasional evening concerts and seasonal events.

Life is a multidimensional journey of blooming. We are each of us very cool flowers. My personal journey began with formal pre-med studies, followed by living in a teepee and foraging wild edibles in various forests. I studied healing techniques from around the world with a Curandera, and trained in Chinese Medical Massage under Dr. Xiping Zhou, with additional training in Medical Qi Gong and Mindfulness over the years. At some point in there I was a consultant for health food stores, setting up juice bars and cafes. I established Nahara Healing Arts in 2007 and began actively writing music as a way to unwind at the end of the day when my kids were very young — and that unexpectedly led to a recording contract with a very large studio in Hollywood. I worked on Songs from the Aqua Lounge with David Arkenstone. In 2014 I was hired to compose a film score. I recorded Innocent with Bill Bottrell in Mendocino. I opened my current massage practice in Mendocino Village in 2020. I still write music daily and see clients daily. They are basically the same thing — fluid listening, while creating space and harmony. In 2024, I opened the boutique. And I was amazed to find that putting the right dress on a woman makes her stand up taller — it really is retail therapy. I have also learned that just as people present with bodily complaints in a massage setting, women also present with bodily complaints in a retail setting. I offer self-care in the spa, self-love in the shop, and musical events in the courtyard. So grateful to get to blossom with you.

Love, n
